How did Love Boat manage without digital signage?

I’m sure, most of us, mainly the over 40’s-people, remember the mythological show – The Love Boat. I still remember watching this with my parents. The plot was like a template, few couples, few singles embarked the great vessel, and with the gentle help of Captain Stubing, his daughter, Julie, Isaac the barmen, Doc and others, all the broken hearts found cure, all the veteran couples re-gained their love and all singles found each other. All of this, while sailing in the ocean and stopping in the great sites of the Caribbean! What else can one ask?

I’ve been to […]

Indoor TV

Indoor TV is a sub component of the wider domain referred to as Digital Signage. Indoor TV is simply a screen, located in various places, from hospitals to office buildings, from corporate headquarters to business campuses and any other indoor location one may think of that has visitors/employees/clients. The Indoor TV used to show some atmosphere slides or videos, embedded with relevant location information. The content used to be the same for days, sometimes weeks.

The enormous revolution that went through the digital signage business as a whole – dramatic drop of screen prices, standardization and reduction of digital signage players […]

Digital signage in public libraries

The world is changing rapidly in the last few decades, this is clear to all. Important establishments, behaviors and business lines are long gone… (Remember the Automatic Video Machine? Asking people in the street for directions?). Surprisingly enough, the public libraries are not dead, and even flourishing! How can it be? I believe the reason is the social impact. People still need and want to interact and the public libraries is a great place to do so, if you need to study.

Digital Signage for public libraries is also becoming a great way to communicate with the visitors of the public […]

What is trigger API for digital signage?

We got used to see digital signage, almost everywhere… The cost of screens of LTE/WiFi and the cost of digital signage software (using high end SaaS based solutions) had dropped, making it almost impossible to avoid implementing digital signage. We got used to the screens in businesses and venues of all kind, directing, telling, selling, and entertaining us. We used to see the content, but never thought our action can actually trigger an event that will change the content of the digital sign, making it relevant for us at the real time.

The new existing options that have revealed in signage […]

Everything you need to run a digital sign at your school

A decade ago, the amount of effort, expense and expertise required to successfully operate a digital signage screen at school was beyond the scope of small educational facilities. Digital signage for education is now one of the most growing markets in the signage world.

So, what would one need to successfully install, manage and broadcast to a Digital Sign in a small educational institute?

I will divide the needs into phases. First would be the hardware setup. Second would be the software and content management setup, last would be the ongoing content building and digital signage management.

Hardware and prerequisites:

A screen. It […]

Put your Yammer on the walls

Yammer is the most successful social network for organizations. Most of the big and huge organizations are using Yammer and it is gradually spreading to medium size organizations. The ability to share ideas, activities, fun experience and even some funny ‘office gossip’ on a big screen, in a friendly platform that is not a simple mail, and still is an internal organization tool is found to be effective and popular.

One thing strikes me though… why should it be limited to one’s desktop/laptop screen, or at best to the smartphone? why can’t we use the Yammer social network to be proudly […]
